Well a lot has happened since my last blog post. Actually, a lot has happened in the past week. A week ago we were dropped off at the SF airport to begin this new journey. But now, it seems that we've been here for more than 5 days. Here are some of the highlights!

Agape Children's Ministry, the reason we came to Kenya.
We went to the Agape campus on Wednesday, and for most of our family it was our first time experiencing it. The boys living on the campus are fun to play with, even though most of the boys are visiting relatives for Christmas. I'll post some photos below.
Picture
Matt has been trying to teach the boys "American Football". They love kicking it off the tees!
Picture
Tom, a volunteer of several years, making wire toys for the boys.
Picture
Kate giving her rendition of the Christmas story while Jimmy translates.
Picture
Stephen started by giving one boy a ride, but then everyone else wanted one too!
Picture
The boys love riding bikes! They'll stick their legs through the middle of the bike just to pedal.

The Markets
Imagine a flea market....with permanent structures made of sheet metal and random bits of wood...that spans multiple acres, where they are handmaking corrugated roofing...selling most fruits and veggies...making all sorts of stuff out of wood...and where if one person yells "MZUNGU" (white person) everyone will pick up the cry.

Other Missionaries
So far we've met a number of other families who serve with different organizations in and around Kisumu. It's great to see all the different events and such they have to stay connected; bible study on Thursdays, worship sessions on Fridays, church on Sundays. It's great to be connected to others serving the Lord here.

Well the day over here is just getting started. The Agape boys will be heading out to Tusky's (a shopping center) to sing with a couple other groups of kids. Hope that everything back home is going well! Stay in touch!

In Christ,

Great pictures, Nick!
And from one white person to another -your skin is so fair - just like mine! :-)
I praise God for you and your family, willing to serve Him - together - what an amazing example for the rest of us!

Looks like they could use a few bikes-maybe "girl" style so smaller boys could ride easier!

Great that you are getting settled in! Yeah, it is amazing how long one can think they have been somewhere when it has really only been a short amount of time. I know that FULL well. ;)
Thanks for telling about the market there, it was very interesting, here they would just say(or whisper) "Waiguoren" (Foreigner(s) or "eluosiren" (Russian(s)
Any ways it was great to hear about it and see the pictures. :)

SO AMAZING!!!
Stephen on the bike being Stephen just warms my heart!!! You all have such a way of reminding all of us to reach out in our relationships wherever we are! Your hearts remind me to slow down and take time to love those around me! As Rhapsody said so well...we miss you, but we are so excited for what the Lord is doing there! Love to you all!!!:)
